Essential Jigs of Woodworking Classes - Strathalbyn SA 1 day condensed
22nd March 2020
1 day condensed; interstate visitors welcome
Total cost $220 per person.
An addition to our Essential Skills of Woodworking, where no matter what you have done in the past, using hand tools in some instances requires some simply made jigs that will enhance the accuracy, consistency, ease and speed of your hand tools. We will demonstate the reasons for and use of these jigs, how they can go wrong and therefore how to prevent that happening, and then put your hands on the tools to ensure you understand proper technique for using them, which ones you will make and keep and those that can be discarded.
So what is a jig? it is a device for holding the work and/or the tool to enhance the accuracy, ease and speed of the job at hand. It is usually hand made, sometimes neccessarily out of the prepared stock of the piece you are making. It will be in some cases the cheapest tool you will use. In any case when you need them they are truely essential and you may start your woodworking journey without them but be assured you will finish the journey with a drawer full.
Morning :- Demonstration of the jigs, best materials and build method... some theory.
Afternoon :- Hands on using the jigs to build a small box.
What you take away, your small box and the plans of the jigs that require them.
We are limited to 8 per class,
