2- Journeyman (code JMA)..... 3 Days...Experience = Some Hand tool work.

N.B. Although this is fundamentally a hand tool workshop, understanding this process will inform work with machines as well.

However, if you are newly embarked in working with wood, or have been working for a while and encountering difficulties, this course will enable you to achieve Straight, Square and Flat every time.

• As a hands-on study in joinery, how to mark up and complete nine standard joints that are in constant use today.
• Build a basic window frame of styles rails and muntins, but unusually using the nine different joints to assemble it.
• This will demonstrate how the joints relate to each other, and how to progress through the project so that this joinery goes together seamlessly.
• Why these different joints exist, and what they are used for, how understanding of these nine joints, allows all variations that may be needed to be achievable.
• Learn to with practice, achieve the speed, accuracy, and safety, that is impossible for machines to match when producing, one-off, be-spoke builds. 
• Be confident to tackle any project, and to understand what tools are vital and why.

Project - is a small frame with muntins, using nine different joints to demonstrate. The frame is worth keeping as a reference for useful joinery.

The joints used are a Miter, Dowelled miter, Corner bridle, Lap, Lapped dovetail, Mortise and Tenon, Saddle bridle, Crossed Lap, and a secured Butt joint.

This is an important course, every thing you will do will leverage from this work into your future projects, it will be a huge improvement to your skills, and will seriously shorten your learning curve.
